A NOTE FROM FOUNDER: KAITLYN TILLER

Kalon Ministries was born from a vision God placed on my heart long before I had the words or resources to understand what it would become.

​

I grew up deeply impacted by the faith, strength, and intentionality of my parents, and especially by my mom’s story. Through her own life experiences, she understood the importance of giving me a strong foundation - one rooted in faith, love, and the knowledge of who I was in Christ. From a young age, I was reminded that I was loved, chosen, created with purpose, and deeply valued by God.

That foundation shaped so much of who I became.

​

And because I had been given it, God began opening my eyes at a very young age to girls around me whose lives looked different from mine.

​

I noticed girls growing up in difficult circumstances - girls experiencing instability, foster care, financial hardship, family struggles, or simply the absence of someone consistently reminding them of their value. Even as a young girl myself, I remember seeing something in them that they often couldn't see in themselves.​ And I could never shake it.

​

At a very young age the Lord placed a dream on my heart. I knew that He wanted to use me to create a place of resources for those girls one day. I even knew its name: Kalon.

​

Kalon is a Greek word meaning "beauty that is more than skin deep" - a beauty that is inherently good, noble, and worthy. It perfectly captured what God had placed on my heart: helping young girls discover that their beauty and worth that isn't determined by their circumstances, appearance, past, or what the world says about them.

Their worth was established by the One who created them.

Why We Exist​

Kalon Ministries exists to come alongside underprivileged young girls, meeting tangible needs while pointing them toward the deeper truth of who they are in Christ.​ We believe sometimes love looks spiritual, and sometimes it looks incredibly practical. It can look like a safe place to land. A beautiful first day of school outfit that makes a girl feel confident. A room to feel safe in that finally feels like home. A mentor who consistently shows up in their life. A community that celebrates her. An opportunity she may not otherwise have had. Or simply someone looking her in the eyes and reminding her that she is seen, she is valuable and her story matters.

Our heart is not simply to provide things. It is to build relationships, restore dignity, create opportunities, and help girls see themselves through the eyes of the God who created them.

The Vision

​

The vision for Kalon has always extended beyond traditional ministry. From the beginning, I dreamed of a physical storefront - a beautiful, welcoming place where ministry, community, and purpose could exist under one roof. A place that could help financially sustain the mission while also creating opportunities to serve girls in meaningful, tangible ways.

​

In the heart of historic Downtown DeFuniak Springs, we are creating a home for Kalon Ministries: a beautiful, welcoming space designed to serve our community while helping sustain the mission for years to come.

Drawing from my background in interior design and years of building a business in the home industry, the front of the building will be a thoughtfully curated retail storefront filled with beautiful home décor, gifts, local grocers, and pieces for everyday living. Through the storefront, we hope to create a sustainable source of support for the ministry while also giving our greater community a tangible way to be part of what Kalon is doing.

But beyond the storefront is the heart of it all.

​

The Kalon community space will be a place created especially for girls -a place where they can walk through the doors and immediately know they belong. It will host weekly Bible studies, mentorship, gatherings, and opportunities for girls to simply come spend time together in a safe, beautiful, and encouraging environment.

The space will also include dressing rooms and a thoughtfully created clothing area where girls in need can shop for clothing completely free of charge. We want the experience to feel less like receiving assistance and more like walking into a beautiful boutique, because we believe dignity matters in the way we serve.

Every detail of the building is being designed with purpose. We want girls to have a place they are excited to come to, a community that knows their name, and people who continually remind them of the truth of who they are in Christ.

Our hope is that Kalon becomes more than a building. We pray it becomes a place of belonging - a place where practical needs are met, friendships are formed, Scripture is opened, lives are poured into, and young girls begin to see the beauty and purpose God has placed within them.
